অধ্যাপক ড. হাসনা বেগম ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দর্শনের অধ্যাপক ছিলেন। দশম শ্রেণীতে উঠতেই মাত্র চৌদ্দ বৎসর বয়সে তাঁর বিয়ে হয়ে যায়। বিয়ের পরের বৎসর মায়ের একান্ত অনুরােধে ১৯৫০ সালে তিনি এসএসসি পরীক্ষা দেন এবং কৃতিত্বের সাথে প্রথম বিভাগে উত্তীর্ণ হন। তারপর সুদীর্ঘ তেরােটি বৎসর সংসারধর্ম পালন করেন। ছয় সন্তানের জননী হাসনা বেগম আবার ঢাকা সিটি নাইট কলেজে ভর্তি হয়ে ১৯৬৫ সালে এইচএসসি পরীক্ষা দেন এবং স্কলারশীপসহ প্রথম বিভাগ পান। এরপর তাকে আর কিছু থামাতে পারেনি। সংসারের যাবতীয় কর্তব্য পালন করে তিনি দর্শনে বিএ অনার্স ও এমএ পাস করেন। প্রথম শ্রেণীতে প্রথম হন দুইটি পরীক্ষায়। ১৯৭২ সালে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দর্শন বিভাগে প্রভাষক পদে যােগদান করেন। এরপর ১৯৭৩-এ তিনি অস্ট্রেলিয়ার। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পিএইচডি করতে যান। ১৯৭৮-এর এপ্রিল মাসে তিনি পিএইচডি ডিগ্রী অর্জন করে ফিরে এসে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে যােগদান করেন।
