The Common Admission Test for admission into major management schools, especially the IIMs is held every year between October and November. This exam is an aptitude test, testing the candidate’s skills in maths, language and verbal ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning.

This book concentrates on the language and verbal ability section of the test. It focuses on clarifying various grammar concepts that are tested in the exam.

English grammar can be a little confusing even to people who have no problem in using the language in speech and writing. This book simplifies the concepts and explains the various grammar principles, to deepen the readers understanding and clear common confusions that arise in usage.

The book explains grammar rules, clarifies them through several examples and also defines the exceptions to the rules that might be encountered in normal usage.

The book contains usage notes on nouns, determiners, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs, verbs, prepositions and phrasal verbs, and conjunctions. It has separate chapters on subject-verb agreement, modifiers, parallelism, redundancy and wordiness, word pairs that are often confused in usage, and punctuation.
