Product Specification & Summary

The author began writing on the contemporary issues since he took retirement from the United Nations. It was an irony that the issues affecting the regions included the countries where the author had served for several years. He knew the people and had the opportunities to be acquainted with their hopes and aspirations. It pained the author profoundly to witness the same people were falling victims of intrigues and invasions and their cherished dreams of living a peaceful and dignified life being devastated by civil wars and external military interventions. Iraq was invaded in wanton disregard of international law but no one was held accountable for the death and destruction followed the invasion. Crimea was made to secede from Ukraine and the entire south and east region of Ukraine fell under the control of the rebels armed by Russia. Russian President made it no secret that any of its neighbor ever dared to enter into alliance unfriendly to Moscow would meet the same fate as that of Kiev. Israeli Prime Minister dismissed the “two states formula” implying that the Palestinians will have the only option to live under occupation. Syria has been subjected to indiscriminate bombings for the past five years bringing colossal damage to life and property. Peace talks have taken a rear seat allowing military intervention to facilitate dialogue. The instability resulted ostensibly from invasion in the region has produced a fiercest insurgency the world has ever witnessed. The combined military assaults of the American led coalition in one hand and Russian intervention in support of the Syrian regime on the other exacerbated the sufferings of the people. Reversing Tranquility has been an attempt to compile the articles the author had written from October 2011 to December 2015. The book has also included some articles written on Bangladesh. It will be a matter of great satisfaction if the readers find the book relevant in articulating their thoughts and views on national and international issues.
