The `Bangladesh Studies’ book has been written as a text book for the two courses: "Bangladesh Studies" and "History of the Independence of Bangladesh", which are being taught at undergraduate level in different public and private universities of Bangladesh. It provides a comprehensive and analytical study of historical developments of Bangladesh regarding its socio-economic, political and cultural avenues since pre-historic age until the independence of the country in 1971. The book also includes the geographical study of Bangladesh with ethnicity and composition of her population. The study of modern Bangladesh such as analysis of different political regimes after 1971, constitutional development, different dimensions of the foreign policies and international relations of Bangladesh, have also been detailed in this Book. The book will, undoubtedly, enrich the learners with a complete and comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh, which will, in turn, make them conscious about different issues related to historical, political, social, cultural and economic aspects of the country and help them to be a patriot and good citizen. The inquisitive readers of the history and society of Bangladesh will also significantly be benefited with the study of this book.
Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwary is working in the Dept. of Political Science, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, as a Professor. Before joining at C.U., he served International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), Bangladesh from June 1994 to February 2004 in various capacities viz. Registrar in Charge; Director, Student Affairs Division; Assistant Professor; Warden etc. He was awarded M.Phil and Ph.D. degree by the University of Chittagong in 2000 and 2011 respectively. Dr. Patwary did his Post Doc research at the Incheon National University of Korea in 2014. He has published 25 more articles in various international & national journals and periodicals. Besides, his three books were published. Dr. Patwary had undergone a higher administrative training in 1999 at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). For research, training and professional purpose, he visited Malaysia, India, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Maldives. He is involved with a number of social and research institutions. He is the chairman of Board of Directors of Raipur Ideal School & college; Secretary, Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT), Chittagong Chapter; Treasurer, C.U. Political Science Alumni Association; Director of Chittagong International School. He was the elected President of IIUC Teachers’ Welfare Association in 2003-2004 session.
