This book presents a case of a development model in Northern Bangladesh which has been framed, and implemented by an NGDO called The Community Development Association (CDA). The CDA established in 1986 has been facilitating since then the development process of landless farmers, marginal agricultural workers, and adivasi people through ‘Rights’-based approach by increasing their access and control over the public resources and the services. Developing sustainable “People’s Organizations” of poor and vulnerable people at village, ward, thana/ upazila, dictrict and constituency levels is the key strategies of the CDA interventions. What anthropologists lecture in the class of Anthropology of Development like bottom-up approach, participatory model, people-friendly initiative, culturally contextual, socially compliant, environmentally befitting, and sustainable in application, the CDA practices in fields in Northern Bangladesh. This book depicts a vivid and lucid picture of the CDA model of development, which aims to bring people out of the margins of the society.
