I was born in Barisal, Bangladesh in 1971. I completed my BSc (1993) and MSc (1995) in Microbiology from Dhaka University; MSc (1998) and PhD (2001) in Biochemistry from KU Leuven (Belgium). Since 1996, my working experiences have been limited to universities in Bangladesh, Belgium, Japan, and Malaysia. All this while I have been busy in scientific writing. However, with the memories of living, working, and travelling in more than 20 different countries, I dared to write this book. I guess, I acted nothing more than a sleuth to probe those memories on racism and discrimination. At the most, those memories incarnate racism and discrimination I experienced at a personal level.
