HOW CAN THIS BOOK HELP YOU? Welcome to the Wonderful World of Kaizen. This is usually the part where the author makes bold claims about how their book is going to instantly transform your life. This isn't to say that this book won't transform your life - it very much has the potential to do so - but I'm afraid that it won't do it by itself. It will, however, tool you up with useful tips and advice on how to interrogate your existing behaviour, help you understand why you abandon certain new habits or lose motivation halfway through, look at how to break free from bad habits, teach you how to keep track of your progress, and remind you to practise self-compassion along the way.
The quote from the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, is one often used in self-help books and on motivational screensavers, but it is one that is popular for a reason and perfectly encapsulates the Kaizen philosophy: you can change your life by making lots of small steps (and I won't force you to walk a thousand miles either).
