Militancy, especially the religious militancy drew global attention since the beginning of 21st century’s unprecedented event of 9/11 US Twin Tower attack. Since then, militancy, among many other security issues, became one of the major concerns of security experts and security professionals particularly with regards to protecting national security and national interests. In Bangladesh, alongside a number of sporadic terrorist acts and incidents, the 2016 Holey Artisan attack has shown how the different security outfits of the Government of Bangladesh had to make determined yet steady moves to handle the crisis within a very short time. In such context, nevertheless, the militant attacks in Bangladesh as a whole have necessitated the need for academic research and explorations so that strong and resilient counterterrorism strategies can be comprehensively crafted to foil and deal with any such ploy ahead of time. With this premise, the book looks forward to unfolding diverse political, societal and economic dynamics of the security concerns which emerge from the threat of militancy and violent extremism in Bangladesh.
