The book 'Old Dhaka, New Story' reels off the story of transforming a dilapidated open space into a user-friendly green hub for the City dwellers in the southern part of Dhaka, popularly known as old Dhaka. The book also tells about the strong will and the relentless effort of a group of dreamers to re-establish the innate desire of humans to be in the contact with nature and rebuild the relationship of 'Trust and Respect' with the people of the community through revitalizing the project 'Shahid Haji Abdul Alim Playground; located at Lalbagh, Dhaka. The project had been revitalized under the program 'Jol Shobuje Dhaka' (Dhaka as aqueous Green), an initiative of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to transform Dhaka into a better city for living. The revitalization of this project had been led by Architect Rafiq Azam and completed under the partnership of SHATOTTO-JPZ (JV) in association with Cube inside Design Ltd. The book will connect the readers with the journey of transforming a rundown open space in urban mayhem into a green lung for the city.
