Bangladesh is committed to the objectives of gender equality and women empowerment in all sphere of national life. Bangladesh constitution has recognised equal opportunity of women with men, gender equality and equal protection of law as integral part of fundamental human rights of women. Women's effective representations, electoral system and enactment of gender sensitive law etc. are important in parliament to protect women's human rights.
The patriarchal social system is still far from embracing women equal rights. The book, a synthesis of four study reports, contains some fruitful discussion and recommendations on four specific areas which may contribute in furthering the women empowerment issues in those areas.
