We cannot elucidate the contribution of Bangabandhu to the independence of Bangladesh with a few phrases. He was such an individual who had sacrificed his whole life for the amelioration of the people of the country. He had not only sacrificed his life for the opulence of the people but also inspired them to dream of turning into citizens of an independent Bangladesh that encouraged them to get embroiled in the war of emancipation with the Pakistani ruler. Like Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina took responsibility for the Awami League in 1981 when the party was grappling to stand on a strong footing owing to the callousness of the army rulers. She first organized the party and later worked for the restoration of democracy in the country through a mass movement. Later on, after winning the 1996 general election, she devoted herself to taking Bangladesh in the next step of advancement. But, she could not achieve her dream during that regime. She again came into power through a landslide victory in the 2008 election. Since then, she has been striving hard for the progress of the country. Her insight and hard work have established Bangladesh as one of the leading emerging economies from a bottomless basket. This book is a compilation of the author’s four dozen newspaper editorials on Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina's contribution to the country's formation and development. The prime concern of the book is to provide the readers with a peek at what Bangabandhu did for Bangladesh and how Sheikh Hasina is struggling hard to establish a poverty-free developed Bangladesh where there would be no hunger, gender discrimination, and illiteracy. The book also discusses how Sheikh Hasina has transformed into a global leader. One of the striking features of this book is that an attempt has been made to explicate the role of father and daughter in a single frame.
