2023 IS MY 43rd YEAR IN THE ICT SECTOR. For a long time, I was planning to write about the development of the Information and Communication industries, from its beginning to its present state, including my thoughts on it. But due to involvement in various activities, I was not able to write. However, at last I could manage my time, and finally the book: “Aborto, Analog Theke Digital Bangladesh O Amra.” (The Vortex, from Analogue to Digital Bangladesh and Us.) in Bengali Language was published last year. Meanwhile after publication of “ABORTO” there are several people from different corner requested to publish my memoir in English and accordingly after several modification and editing I’m pleased to publish this book “Analog To Smart Bangladesh—A Quest for Digital Transformation”. After completing my postgraduate from Dhaka University, I wanted to go to overseas for higher studies. But, as the saying goes: “Man proposes, BUT God disposes,” the same thing happened to me. Anyway, after completing some computer course at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University in 1979, I started my career as a computer trainer in 1980. Thereafter, I got involved in the computer industry, in various capacities. Today, those who are teenagers must be using a smartphone. They can communicate with the rest of the world very easily and can communicate with your friends and relatives. When we were at their age, during the 80s, Bangladesh was almost isolated from the rest of the world. Therefore, since then it is a wonder that this world has transformed from analog to digital. During the last 43 years of my involvement in the ICT sector, I have seen this development closely. After all these years, I believe that the decision by the Almighty was correct. I feel that if I had not stayed in Bangladesh, I would not become a part of this challenging yet great journey, would not be a part of this history, and not have been able to meet some of the most talented and hardworking people who enriched our ICT industry. Our development of the information and communication technology industry, my involvement with these creative and intelligent people, and working with them to build this industry would have been lost. I talked about the milestones in its development and future. I hope the readers will enjoy reading this book.
