The book "Education and Economic Growth: Lessons from Japan for Bangladesh" tries to focus the potential factors that lead to tremendous economic development of Japan despite a lot of constraints especially after a lot of devastation of the world War II. The reason behind this is to explore the possibilities for development initiatives for the development of Bangladesh. Here it is discussed that both Bangladesh and Japan are Asian countries. Despite geographical inconvenience, the economy of Japan is still one of the leading economies of the World and it has been possible due to the attention of proper educational facilities provided by the Government. The modern economic growth of Japan since the time of the Meiji Restoration in 1868 presented a new challenge to the Western World. Over the past 150 years she has demonstrated that successful performance in economic and political development of a non-Western nation is possible. Even after the devastation caused by the World War II, Japan has been able to regain it's economic strength because of put enormous emphasis on educational reform. The increased educational improvement of Japan has caused socio-political upliftment of the people and through the improvement of Science and technology. Japan has been able to show itself as one of the models for other developing countries. On the other hand, Bangladesh emerged as an independent state 35 years ago. In one hand the country is overpopulated and on the other hand the lack of satisfactory development activities is leading the country toward a great uncertainty. br This book, thus, has been written with the objective of finding alternative methods to for the development of Bangladesh. Getting lessons from the development history of Japan, the government of Bangladesh can take necessary actions to utilize vast population by considering them as asset.
