Dr. Md.Abdul Quasem Hails from the Village Baraibari, Upazilla Kaliakair of Gazipur district. He retired Voluntarily as Senior Research Fellow in January 2003 from the Bangladesh Institute if Development Studies (BIDS), Dhaka. Before joining the BIDS Dr. Quasem was awarded PhD. Degree in Agricultural Economics from Prague Agricultural University. Cxchoslovakia in the year 1975. He is basically an Agricultural Graduate of the University of Dhaka and Completed M.Sc. degree in Agricultural Economics from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Prior to his appointment in BIDS he joined the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh as Lecturer in the Department of Co-operation and Marketing and also worked as Agricultural Economist in the Ministry of Agriculture and Works, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad and the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Bangladesh, Dhaka. Dr. Md. Abul Quasem worked as a Visiting Research Fellow in several International Institutions Such as German Development Institute of Berlin (December 1980 to March 1981), Christian Michelsen’s Institute of Bergen, Norway (April to October 1987) and the International Food Policy Research Institute Washington, D.C. USA (January to March 1995). He was also employed as a Visiting Professor in Agricultural Economics of the University of Tokyo (December 1996 to March 1997).
