About Ruskin Bond Prolific children’s book writer Ruskin Bond is an Indian author of British origin, and known all over the world for his short stories, essays, poems, and novels.
Some of his best works include the novels, The Room On The Roof, A Flight Of Pigeons, Vagrants In The Valley, and Delhi Is Not Far. Ruskin Bond’s writings are mostly associated with children’s books, literature, and fiction. He is known as a contemporary Indian writer, who has written more than 500 short stories, several novels, poems, articles for numerous publications, and over 30 children’s books.
The famed writer who wrote his first book at age seventeen, was born in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, India, in 1934. He spent his growing years all over India, in cities such as New Delhi, Jamnagar, and Dehradun. Winner of the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize in 1957, for his first book, he is also the recipient of the distinguished Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of short stories, as well as the Padma Shri. He currently resides in Landour, Mussoorie, in India, with his family.
