The book comprises of ninety-one exercises in thirteen chapters. Each exercise is presented covering basic principles theoretical background material requirements procedures observations calculations and precautions to be taken in the laboratory and question bank at the end of each exercise for viva voce. Chapter One Introduction deals with importance of Physical Pharmacy and the laboratory behavior viz. Handling and cleaning of glassware laboratory safety laboratory manners and the way to write exercise in joumal common errors and their solution with suitable examples considered in this chapter. Other chapters viz. Molecular Weight Density of liquids Rheology Surface tension Solubility Vapor pressure Partition coefficient Phase rule Colloids Refractivity Chemical kinetics and Micromeritics include the various exercises related to the basis of physicochemical characteristics of substances method of determination factor affecting the methods viz. temperature pressure addition of impurities and other parameters with suitable models using simple as well as effective techniques to get reproducible results. Mathematical approach involved for justification of various problems has been discussed wherever necessary.
About the Author Prof. R.S. G aud M.Pharm Ph.D. is a Professor of Pharmaceutics and engaged in teaching since 1978 at Dept. of Pharmacy Indore Madhya Pradesh. Presently he is working with AICTE New Delhi an autonomous body under the Govt. of India Parliament Act 1987 as an Advisor and has established himself as a good organiser. He started his career as Lecturer in Pharmacy Holkar Science College Indore and served in various capacities in the institution viz. Asstt. Professor in SGSITS Indore and Principal AISSMS College of Pharmacy Pune. He was also Dean Faculty of Technology and Member Executive Council Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Indore. He is also actively involved in many academic organizations at National and International levels. He has also established himself as a good teacher and researcher and has presented his work at national and international levels. He has visited Bangkok Singapore Amsterdam Bonn London Vancouver Chicago Madison New Orleans and Orlando (USA).
He is the author of many books research papers and review articles in the field of pharmaceutics. Prof. Gaud has rendered his valuable services to most of the universities in the country for their academic upliftment. He is a life member of various pharmaceutical societies and was Vice President of APTI. Recently Prof. Gaud has been elected as President Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India (APTI). Dr. G.D. Gupta M.Pharm Ph.D. is Reader in Pharmaceutics at B.N. College of Pharmacy Udaipur (Rajasthan). He has published and presented many research papers in National and International journals/conferences. Dr. Gupta has delivered many guest lectures and participated as a resource person in workshops sponsored by AICTE and UGC. He has been awarded Best Paper Award in 5th APTI National Convention. Dr. Gupta has also authored four professional books. He is one of the young scientists who received travel grant for presentation of his research work at Orlando Florida USA in 2001. He is a life member of many pharmaceutical societies and is actively involved in professional organizations.
