Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to whom this edition of My Beautiful Bangladesh is dedicated, is the greatest Bengali of all times and father of this nation Bangladesh. Bangabandhu is an institution, a movement, a revolution, an upsurge. He is the architect of a nation. The word Bangladesh and Sheikh Mujib are inseparables I had the great honour of meeting him twice-1974 Born in Tungipara on 17 March, 1920 under Gopalganj district, he was the third child among four daughters and two sons of Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Saira Begum. His political life began as a humble worker while he was still a student. He founded the Muslim Students League on January 4, 1948. On July 9, Bangabandhu was elected general secretary of East Pakistan Awami League. He was close to Jukta Front leaders including Sher-e-Bangla, Moulana Bhashani and Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy. In 1955, he was elected a member of the legislative assembly. And in 1956 he joined the coalition government, assuming the charge of Industries and Commerce Ministry. Bangabandhu placed the historical 6-point demand February 5, 1966, which paved the way to our Great Liberation War.
