ড. এম. এ. ওয়াজেদ মিয়া

M. A. WAZED MIAH is a Chief Scientific Officer and Member Physical Sciences of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC). He passed his B.Sc (with Honours in Physics) from the University of Dhaka in 1961 and obtained his M. Sc. (with dissertation in Nuclear Physics) from the same University in 1962. He obtained his Ph.D. in Nuclear and Particle Physics from the University of Durham (U.K.) in 1967. He has done post-doctoral research work at the Daresbury Nuclear Physics Laboratory for one year in 1970 and at the Nuclear Research Center, Karlsruhe for six months in 1975. He worked in India from 1st October, 1975 to 28th February, 1982 under a post-doctoral Fellowship offered by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. He also worked for three terms as a visiting scientist at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. He has published a good number of research papers in both national and international journals. Dr. Wazed Miah has considerable experience in teaching at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. His first text book, " Fundamentals of Electromagnetics" was published by Tata McGraw-Hill Publishing Company Ltd, New Delhi in 1982, which was reprinted six times since then. His second text book for undergraduate students titled, "Fundamentals of Thermodynamics" was published by the University Press Limited (UPL), Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1988. His third text book titled "Elementary Nuclear and Reactor Physics" was published in 1995 by Mullick Brothers (Publishers), Dhaka, Bangladesh. His fourth text book entitled "Basics of Superconductivity" was published in (February), 1997 by Mullick Brothers (Publishers), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
