ফখরুদ্দীন আহমেদ
Fakhruddin Ahmed was born in 1931. He obtained M.A. degree in International Relations from Dhaka University in 1952. He joined the Foreign Service in 1954. As a career diplomat he held numerous important diplomatic position and retired as Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh in 1987. He became Adviser for Foreign Affairs (Foreign Minister) in the first Caretaker Government of Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed during December 1990-March 1991. As member of Observer Group he observed elections in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Zambia, Guyana and India. He also served as an International Electoral Observer with the UN Observer Mission in South Africa in 1994. He is currently Chairperson of the Fair Election Monitoring Alliance (FEMA), a combine of different non-governmental organizations and civic groups which observed the 12 June 1996 election in Bangladesh. He is the author of Critical Times: Memoirs of a South Asian Diplomat (UPL, 1994). Published a number of articles on foreign policy of Bangladesh, cooperation in South Asia and election observation.
