ড. মাহমুদ হাসান

Mahmud Hasan was born in Calcutta in the thirties before Bengal and India were partitioned in 1947. He lived in Calcutta for the first 14 years of his life. He left Calcutta for Dhaka in 1947 with the family as his father, a government servant in the Bengal Civil Service had opted for Pakistan. The next 14 years of his life Hasan was in Dhaka having had his formal education in the Dhaka collegiate school, Dhaka college and the University of Dhaka where he acquired his degrees in English and law. He, however, achieved his real education outside the precincts of the institutions. Mahmud has been writing for the last 50 years of his life forty of which he has been living in London. He writes in various genres of literature poems, plays, stories and articles on various subjects. Mahmud Hasan writes in both Bangla and English and he does not think at he has any problem about that. This volume of poems is the author's second book of poetical works in English. Mahmud Hasan has so far published about 15 books.
