This book is written for the students of engineering and will be helpful to other branches also. As the author serves at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), so most of the contents are designed with the need of the students of various departments of KUET. As syllabus of some department contains a portion of coordinate geometry of 2 dimensions, especially general equation of 2nd degree and reduction of these equations, related to the conics, to standard form with the properties of the conic represented, so that has been presented. In that case a general method has been presented useable for both non-central and central conics. This is author’s own contribution, which reduces students labour. In the case of coordinate geometry of 3 dimensions, a new approach is taken. A similarity between 2 and 3 dimensions have been presented, whenever possible. No doubt this is a very new approach. This will definitely help the students as they are familiar with the coordinate geometry of 2 dimensions. The students of this level are also familiar with the vectors, so in some cases vectors have been introduced to clarify the matter. Hopefully that will be helpful to understand the connection between geometry and vectors. In this 1st edition there may have some errors. If any reader finds any of them the author will be greatful, if that has been communicated to [email protected]. Any comment or criticism will be also appreciated. For the writeup purpose the author has been allotted a leave of absence from the service. For that allowance the author is thankful to the KUET authority. The Author is in great indebt to Dr. Subrata Majumdar, UGC Professor, as he has accepted the request and wrote the preface of this little effort. The author is also grateful to his family members for providing enough scope during writeup. The author will feel better if the students, for whom this has been wrote, find this book helpful for their knowledge/study. Actually the author felt shortage of such a book and nourishing a hope to fill up the shortage. Finally, the author is thankful to the Almighty Allah for providing the opportunity to bring the dream in the reality.
