Summary:
Sansevieria 'Zeylanica' is known as Bowstring Hemp, but it's so similar in appearance and development to other sansevierias that it's sometimes confused with Snake Plant or Mother-in-Tongue. Law's 'Zeylanica' has distinctive wide, sword-like leaves with wavy grayish green horizontal streaks. It likes a place with a lot of light, but it can also survive with less light and a few missed waterings. This Sansevieria, like its relatives, is somewhat harmful to both pets and humans.
Light:
Inside, the best place is in a sunny spot, but indirect light will also work. Plants usually have darker colors when they get less light. On the other hand, the plant can and will grow in direct sunlight when it is outside. But you should know that the edges of the leaves can turn yellow if the sun is very strong or hot. Most plants grown outside are a lighter shade of green.
Water:
Even though bowstring hemp can grow in dry conditions, it needs a lot of water in the summer and spring when it grows the most. During the summer, you should also use half-strength fertilizer every three weeks.
Soil:
Because they can rot easily, you must choose soil that drains well if you want your plant to live a long time. Your plant should be able to grow in a wide range of potting soils as long as they drain well. However, this plant usually does best in well-draining sandy loam.
