Whenever i visit Anyaprokash I try to sit in Abdullah Neser's room as he has not many visitors and you get several books while waiting in his room, often extending my stay beyond necessity. Once i took up 'Aapo-naare Aami Khujia Beraai.' I started reading it. Only after a few pages i was hooked to it. Naser took time to return and i was more and more drawn into the book. Stealthily i put the book in my shoulder bag and left the office. I earnestly hope that he would not take me to task for this. Then and there i decided to translate it for non-Bengali readers of the world to show them, what they have missed by not learning Bengali. My translation would express only one percent of the original beauty of expression. A better translator could have extended it ten percent. Only those who know both Bengali and English well would be able to evaluate the difference between the original and these translations. The nearest literary translation of the name is 'I search for myself constantly.' Yes Humayun Ahmed is searching himself both in the visual world and also beyond the visual world. He can easily do it. You and I cannot do it. Read this book and find out how he has achieved it.
