This report is one of a group of six reports which together present the findings of a study, the Final Evaluation Study, of a project, the Systems Rehabilitation Project (SRP). These reports, a summary and five thematic reports which look in detail at different dimensions of the project, contain a rich combination of information and analysis which have been compiled through one year of intensive research and discussion. The study has been prepared by an inter-disciplinary, inter-organisation team led by John Soussan, from the University of Leeds, UK and Anjan Datta from Sanghamitra Gobeshana Kendra (SGK). Teams from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the Environment and Geographical Information Systems Support Project for Water Sector Planning (EGIS) project and from SRP itself were also involved in specific aspects of the project. We would like to thank all of these contributors for their tireless efforts to ensure that we achieved the ambitious targets we set in designing this study. The study has been funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka, to whom great thanks are due for not just the funding. They, and the other donors involved in SRP, were instrumental in facilitating the execution of the study and were open in both providing information and considering the conclusions reached (several of which have important implications for how they, as stakeholders in the project, should adapt their approach to the design and monitoring of such projects).
