Patchwork Pages (Hardcover)

Patchwork Pages is a collage of ideas, thoughts, and challenges of our everyday lives in Bangladesh, in the form of prose and poetry accompa- nied by sketches, by the English performance literature group Brine Pickles. The volume portrays a rich Bengali culture imbued by the influences that we hold close, while adding a tangy flavor of rebellion. The patchwork journey starts with mystery rides down the darkest alleys of Dhaka streets and ends on the hills and seashore of Chittagong, dealing with issues that only a writer's eye can spot. The images shift like a bird's flight for home, lasting yet leaving behind a sense of longing. The writers are young. nurtured by editors and creative writers from Bangladesh and America and, above all, supporting and supported by each other. Brine Pickles undertook year and half long journey in the form of creative writing workshops and dialogues engaging both American and Bangladeshi mentors. This anthology is the final outcome of that journey, supported by the American Center Small Grants Award (2011).
