Benny Andersson (b. 16 December 1946, Stockholm, Sweden) is a musical luminary celebrated globally as a founding member of the legendary pop group ABBA. He is a musical genius whose talent has left an indelible mark on the world of music. In 1972, Benny co-founded ABBA with Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, which propelled him into international stardom. With hits like ‘Dancing Queen,’ ‘Mamma Mia,’ and ‘Waterloo,’ ABBA became one of the most successful music acts of all time, selling over 380 million records worldwide. After the dissolution of ABBA in 1982, Benny’s solo career showcases his versatility as a musician, blending seamlessly pop, rock, folk, and classical influences. He has also composed music for films, musicals, and stage productions, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards. In recognition of his contributions to music, the Swedish government conferred upon him an honorary professorship in 2002. Additionally, he received two honorary doctorate degrees from Stockholm University in 2008, and Luleå Tekniska University in 2012.
