Zubayeer Alf E Swani, widely known as Swani Zubayeer (b. 2 December 1973, Dhaka, Bangladesh), is a singer, music director and composer. He is trained in Indian classical music first under the tutelage of Gobindo Robi Das, and later by Ustad Mazhar Ali Khan and Ustad Jawaad Ali Khan, descendants of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. He studied Western classical music at the Gotland School of Music Composition, and the Royal University College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm. Swani’s compositions were performed by esteemed ensembles such as Sonanza, GotlandsMusiken, Sundsvall Symphony Orchestra, and the KMH Orchestra, among many others. In 2015, the Hungarian Gypsy Philharmonic performed the national anthem of Bangladesh under his arrangement. Among his notable albums are ‘Nirjan Swakshar,’ ‘Adbhut Andhar Ek,’ and ‘Ajasra Kabita.’ He composed music for feature films as well. He received the 40th National Film Award for the Best Music Director for his work in ‘Anil Bagchir Ekdin’ in 2017.
